I had been looking for an optimus 11 explorer for a very long time and could not get my hands on one. Then a stand came up on ebay and a friend gifted me a 111c cobra burner.
I got in touch with Gary and he kindly offered to make me a stainless rod, threaded for a s9 house to braise onto the burner. But I really did not want to cut my burner, but I did want the fuel line under the spirit cut height. So I drew this brilliant detailed plan... From My sketch, Gary made this... |
Does it work, yes it does. Here is is in Gary's work shop.
Any here it is in my, very happy, hands. All I had to do was make the wind guard, this was done with a old stainless steel cup.
Here is a picture of the real thing.
The only thing I would change is I would not use these cheap chinese fuel lines again. The heat is a bit much for them and one poorly crimped one did pop off. Gary offered to make it with a Primus or Optimus fitting. In retrospect I should have. One day I will replace the s9 hose filling with a male gas connector so I can make my own fuel lines.
